Indian Steel Association partners Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India to organise the first International Steel Conclave

MUMBAI: The Indian Steel Association has partnered Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India to hold the country`s first `International Steel Conclave` with an aim to bring industry leaders and market influencers together to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the sector.

 

Being launched with the help of the union ministry of steel, the event will be held on October 25 and 26, 2018, in New Delhi and will inaugurated by the union minister of steel Bijender Singh. Issues that will be discussed at the inaugural edition will range between international steel trade and its challenges, problems faced in extracting, supplying, transporting and pricing of raw materials and future innovations and technology that can be introduced in the industry.

 

"With the industry witnessing an uptick in demand for steel and its utilization, we are confident that the critical insights on international steel trade and its challenges will enable the sector to create an environment for improved trade opportunities," Bhaskar Chatterjee, secretary general at the Indian Steel Association said in a release.

 

Steel production has increased by 26% in the last 4 years and the consumption has increased by 22%. Over 86% steel products in the country are covered under quality control orders. India is also poised to become the second largest steel producing nation in the world and the conclave will "enable domestic and global investors foresee future trends leading the sector into a “future-ready” state," the release added.

 

"The steady growth of the industry and the strong initiatives taken by the government gives us the perfect opportunity to host the International Steel Conclave in India," Raj Manek, managing director at Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India said.

 

The Indian Steel Association has all major steel producers of the country like Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Steel Authority of India NSE 5.11 % (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Essar Steel as its members and aims at being a focal point for steel industry related deliberations in the country and abroad.
