1. What are WOS Alerts?

Be the first to know! Alerts are a free auto-notification service that notifies you via email when certain things happen. (NOTE: This service requires a valid email ID and registration.) 3. Must I pay to use the Web site?

No. World of Steel on the Web is free of charge for all users from all locations. We however recommend Registration which is also free. This enables you to receive WOS alerts.

4. How do I sell?

Selling on is a breeze. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Establish whether your product is flat steel (Hot Rolled, Cold Rolled, tinplate, tfs, Prepainted, Galvanised in sheets or coils) or long steel (Billets, bars, beams, wire rods).

2. Search the inquiry section accordingly. If there is an inquiry that matches your offer, post an offer to sell against it Click Send Quote on inquiry page)

3. Also post your offer by clicking the post offer icon.

You will receive an auto acknowledgement of your postings. THEN, leave the rest to us. WOS team will work to ensure your offer reaches the widest targetted audience.

5. How do I buy?

Click "Search Offers" for the materials available on sale. If you find the item you require respond online by clicking "Send Response" on the offer page. If you are unable to find the item you require, click "Post Inquiry" and send us your inquiry.

6. What are the WOS fees ?

WOS will at the outset inform you the fees payable. It is usually payable by the seller and depends on the quantity and value of the goods.

6. What do WOS fees cover?

As anyone in international trade knows, there is more to this business than just matching the buyer and seller. We work proactively...visiting and inspecting sellers and their facilities. All the time, adding to our base of buyers and sellers. And sometimes, pruning and weeding out unreliable customers to ensure our customers get a fair deal and a restful sleep. This only comes with experience (we have over 40 years of it). And it means walking with you through the negotiation, LC, payment, shipment, and order management. And it only comes with an experienced and responsive WOS team that is familiar with international trade. What's more, our fees are payable on receipt of payment.

7. How do I improve my sales opportunity?

Ensure the offer you post is complete and the description is comprehensive. Better still, attach the packing list if available. It is said an "image is worth a thousand words". So remember to send pictures of the materials if available.

8. What is the Featured Page?

Featured Page is our showcase for "made to order" (Prime) materials that we can supply from our partners. This includes finished steel products. 1. Internet Explorer 4.0 or later and/or Netscape Communicator 4.0 or later.

Internet Explorer - To check if the browser accepts javascript, click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options". Click on the security tab and select "Custom Level". Scroll down to "scripting" and make sure "Active Scripting" is selected.

Internet Explorer - To accept cookies, click on "Tools" and "Internet Options". Under the "Security" tab select "Internet" and select "Custom Level". In the cookies section, make sure "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" is selected.

Netscape Communicator - To accept cookies, click on "Edit" and select "Preferences". Under the preferences category select "Advanced." In the Advanced window on the right there is a "Cookies" section. Make sure the "Accept All Cookies" option is selected.

4. Why am I not receiving my emails?

1. The email address in your profile may be incorrect or invalid

2. Your mailbox could be full

3. Message size exceeds limit set by you or your ISP

4. Your server may be busy

5. The server connection may have been broken during relay

6. Your ISP could be blocking communication

7. We may have removed you from the active mailing list due to several failed attempts (bounce back) of communicating to your specified address.

8. You or your ISP may be using a "spam" filter that inadvertently blocks the legitimate emails you have subscribed to.

5. I have e-mail filtering or anti-"SPAM" software set up, how do I make sure I receive e-mail?

To ensure that you receive e-mails from, please do one of the following:

1. Add the "" domain to your e-mail "safe list".

2. If your settings don't allow you to add e-mail addresses to a "safe list" or "white list", use the Help section or contact your e-mail/internet provider's Customer Service to help with your configuration options.

3. What if I have forgotten my password?

Click on Sign In on top of the home page, then select the Forgot Password. You will be required to enter your email ID submitted at the time of Registration. A temporary password will be emailed to you within 5-10 minutes to the email mentioned at the time of registration. This password will be used for your initial login. Upon login with the temporary password, you can enter your permanent password. Please remember that passwords are case sensitive; meaning "ABC123" is not the same as "abc123."Please remember the case you select.

7. How should I update my email address if it changes?

To update your email address simply Sign In, go to "Member Centre", and click on the "Change your Email address" link. Enter your correct email address then click "Submit Changes" button.

8. What can I do if I am not receiving emails from WOS?

1. Update your email address with the correct address at the "Update Profile Information" link of the "Member Centre" section.

2. Re-enter your correct email address at the "Change your Email Address" link of the "Member Centre" section. This action will clear any errors that may be associated with your account and will add you back to the active mailing list.

3. If your email address is correct and re-entering it does not seem to help, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be using filters to prevent unwanted emails from reaching your inbox. Sometimes, these filters also block messages you want to receive. In most cases, adding us to your list of trusted senders will solve this issue. In AOL, select "Add Address"; in Yahoo! Mail, Outlook or Outlook Express select "Add to Address Book"; or Hotmail or MSN, select "Save Address(es)".

4. If you use a "spam" filter, check your preferences to make sure you have not inadvertently flagged emails from the "" domain as "spam."
